Meet our 2018 Final Girl Finalists!
|
Morrigan Thompson
Morrigan is a model and actress from Mansfield, Ohio. She's experienced in several photo genres, from conceptual to fashion to gore. Morrigan's also in three movies, with three more to be filmed this summer(2018). Two of her current films, RoBoob: The Farting Robot Monster Directed by Logan Fry on Vemo and Apartment 49 directed by Bryn Ladner are currrently on the festival circuit. On top of her film and modelling work, Morrigan also keep the scares real performing as a haunt actress. Essentially, "I incorporate horror into everything I do," which sounds just fine to us! |

Jessica Stabbit
Jessica has been actively involved in the horror community as a modeI, actor, and director for over five years. She adopted her moniker during Arizona's Mad Monster Con in 2015, and won the Miss Scarizona pageant at that fest two years after. Jessica is keeping very busy creating films with her production company Mort House Films, which she co-founded with her husband. She recently starred in her first lead in a fan film titled "Friday the 13th: Legacy," directed by Ian Messenger. She is currently producing another fan film called "The Sawyer Family", based on the cult classic "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Keep your eyes out for that! Moreover, she says her house is practically a shrine to horror memorabilia, which sounds like we need to visit! |

Eva Hamilton
Eva's been a horror fan her entire life and feels lucky to be working in a genre she adores. From a theatre background Eva transitioned into film when she moved to Los Angeles. Over the last few years she's become involved in a great deal of independent horror productions, starting with her role in festival favorite Ruin Me (now a Shudder exclusive premiering July 19). Since then she's starred in Death Kiss and played a supporting role in Ouija House, both of which premiered this May at Texas Frightmare Weekend and will be released later this year. Her next project is the upcoming feature Bring The Pain, filming now. Clearly there's a lot of horror to come from Eva! |
Final Girl:
The term was coined by Carol Clover in her 1992 book, Men, Women, and Chainsaws: Gender in the Modern Horror Film. For Clover, this term refers to a female protagonist within a horror movie who the audience can align with as she defeats her oppressor. Ok, clearly, we are oversimplifying the nuances of Clover’s point. For the full story, pick up a copy for yourself. For our purposes, we are referring to any kick ass women in horror movies, and our aim is to celebrate the talents of actresses within the indie horror genre…whether your character survived or not! Join our Final Girl Search!!!
We're entering our 4th year this October, and are looking for the ultimate Final Girl to help us celebrate!! If you think you have what it takes to become the Northern Frights Festival Final Girl, tag the Northern Frights Festival and Gore Noir Magazine on Instagram or Facebook to enter. Our amazing judges will then pick 10-15 finalists (depending on the amount of entries), and add them to the site, where we'll open it up to a public vote! The winner will be deemed our 2018 Northern Frights Festival Final Girl! We'll send you a shirt, we'll show your video on the big screen during the festival and provide you with mondo promotion. And, we'll feature you in a full-page ad in Gore Noir Magazine!!! A killer way to promote yourself and your projects! How do you like them apples? And we'll be announcing our judges soon! Stay tuned! |
How to Enter:
Phase One... 1) You must have appeared in at least one horror movie (or an upcoming horror movie. Of course short films are fine, we love shorts!) 2) Follow the Northern Frights Festival on Instagram and / or Facebook. 3) Post a picture or video of yourself on Instagram or Facebook and be sure to include these TWO hashtags: #NorthernFrights #NFF_FinalGirl 4) Also, tag @northernfrightsfestival and @gorenoirmag (our awesome sponsors!) 5) You must also include some additional information to be considered, information that will be shared with our judges. A brief bio regarding your work as well as a brief message about why you would make the best Final Girl is required. Easiest to email this to us at [email protected] You may also send in a link or two (via email) to some of your work (an acting reel is suitable) and a link to your IMDB page, web site, etc., if applicable. Head shots, on set photos, and other publicity material is also welcome. This information must be received by June 30, 2018. From this information, the judges will select the finalists for the contest. Then Phase Two begins... Once the judges have picked the finalists, we will post all of the finalists on our site and open the competition up for public votes. The first round of voting will last a week. Those who survive that round make it to the third and final round of votes...and the winner of that will be the Northern Frights Festival Final Girl! Good luck!! |
Additional Info:
You do not have to have a film submitted to the festival to enter. We love horror, and we love indie film, and think this is a cool way to cross promote our festival with your work! There is no cash value to this contest, just glory, honour, and promotion! Also, we believe in indie horror, so regardless of the budget of the film, we are interested in your work! The above photos feature some amazing actresses from some equally amazing horror movies. In no way are they, or the studios involved with those films, affiliated with our contest. They just really help to illustrate our point. |
